Xi Jinping had a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin
Xi Jinping noted that APEC is the most important mechanism of economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region /APR/. The Chinese party is intended to strengthen contacts and deepen interaction with Russia within the APEC framework, promote new progress in construction of the Asia-Pacific free trade zone, transport and communication interconnectedness, reforms and innovations, and accelerate the formation of an open economy.
Xi Jinping briefed V. Putin on the relevant events of the 19th CPC Congress, outlined Chinese diplomatic goals, which are focused on promoting of the new kind of international cooperation characterized by principles of mutual respect, honesty and justice, interaction and common benefits, and the formation of a human community with common destiny.
V. Putin praised the successful completion of the CPC Congress and congratulated Xi Jinping on his re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. He said that the important results of the 19th Congress of the CPC prove an existent widespread support of China's domestic and foreign policy from the people of the country, which is led by President Xi Jinping. The Russian side will invariably regard the development of comprehensive strategic cooperation and partner relations between the Russian Federation and PRC as a priority area of foreign policy. Vladimir Putin expressed his joy that Xi Jinping's successful visit to Russia this summer contributed to positive developments in relations between two countries in all fields, noting that the parties need to implement the important consensuses reached by state leaders, to promote close exchanges at a high level, constantly developing mutual cooperation in all possible directions, including economy, trade, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, aircraft and space industries, along with facilitation of humanitarian exchanges. The Russian side intends to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese on both international and regional issues, maintain close contacts and coordination within the framework of APEC and other multilateral structures, promoting the progress in construction of a free trade zone in the Asia-Pacific region as well.
