TASHKENT, 31 of January. /TASS/. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026, according to which an analysis will be performed of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Treaty and proposals for further integration of the republic with this international association will be developed. The document was published on the website of the national legislation database Lex.uz on Monday.
The document provides for "an in-depth analysis of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty and relevant proposals development" It was announced that this work should be completed by the end of 2022.
The document also says that a roadmap for the implementation of the strategy will be developed and approved, which involves further improvement of the national policy of technical regulation and standardization with a view to smoothly enter the EAEU market. Moreover, the republican authorities intend to review the trade policy of this association with third countries.
Uzbekistan has been an observer in the EAEU since late 2020, and last December Mirziyoyev proposed expanding the involvement of EAEU observer states into the activities of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Today, Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are the EAEU member states. Along with Uzbekistan, Moldova and Cuba have the observer state status in the organization.
