Trump's anti-Iran sanctions hit India's basmati rice exports

According to statistics from the Trade Promotion Organization of India, Indian basmati rice exports dropped by 1/5 (20%) in 2021 compared to the previous year and reached 4 million tons - its lowest level during the last 4 years (since 2017) - when Iran reduced its purchasing activity.
Iran is one of the largest importers of Indian basmati rice. The share of Iran was 34%. Basmati exports to Iran dropped by 26% in 2021 compared to the previous year amounting to only 834,458 tons.
