The government approved an eight-year development plan for Transbaikalia

The Russian Government approved the regional socio-economic development program for 2018-2025 proposed by the authorities of Transbaikalia, based on cross-border cooperation with China and Mongolia, the program document was published on the official legal information web-portal.
The program for the development of the Far East and Transbaikalia regions will be supplemented by 24 projects
«Approve the attached list of measures within the framework of the socio-economic development of the Trans-Baikal Territory, which are to be implemented within the period of 2018-2025 on a priority basis. The federal executive authorities, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, when drafting the federal budget for the next financial year and the planned period, are instructed to provide budget allocations for the implementation of measures on priority basis,» the document says.
Regional authorities are recommended to allocate appropriate funds from the regional budget.
The program includes more than 30 points, some of which relate to cross-border and interregional cooperation with China and Mongolia, in particular, it is planned to create a touristic infrastructure complex, increase the capacity of the Zabaikalsk multilateral automobile checkpoint due to the creation of a new pedestrian checkpoint, prepare projects for the construction of the new railway routes from the border of the Russian Federation to the airport «Xijiao» in Manchuria.
