One of the main problems of the Russian (AIK) agro-industrial complex is the poor modern infrastructure for storage and processing of agricultural products. This point of view was expressed by the Accounts Chamber auditor Sergey Mamedov during the government hour in the State Duma.
"Due to the lack of modern storage facilities, we have to record an annual increase in the loss of agricultural products. So, according to the Rosstat data, the annual loss of potatoes over the past three years reached about 7%, loss of vegetables - 3%, and loss of fruits and berries - 1.5%," he said.
Putin extended the scientific and technical program of the agro-industrial complex until 2030
In addition, Russian farmers do not have enough equipment. Now there are only 3 tractors per thousand hectares of arable land, which is incomparable with Europe. Despite the fact that the number of tractors in 2020 increased by 1.5 thousand units compared to 2019, a reduction in the fleet of grain and forage harvesters was registered. In addition, about a half of them accounts for on equipment with a service life of more than 10 years.
There are also some problems with the export of agricultural products. Basically, Russia still exports abroad mainly products with low added value. According to the Federal Customs Service, in 2020, the share of food and processing industry products in total exports amounted to only 13.3%, the share of highly processed fish products - 6.8%.
In addition, Sergey Mammadov noted that now we can see an increase in the cost of the minimum set of food products (by 11.7% since the beginning of the year) and a decrease in the population purchasing power in eight out of 24 food groups (according to the results of 9 months of 2021).
