The Governor of the Altai Territory and the General Director of the New Land Grain Corridor Company Sergey Pushkin signed an agreement on social and economic partnership. The negotiations were held within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
The parties discussed joint work on the development of facilities for storage and processing of grain crops, leguminous and oilseeds in the region.
“We met with Sergey Nikolaevich [Pushkin] at the St. Petersburg forum, and discussed perspectives of our cooperation. We agreed to prepare the necessary decisions in order to sign an agreement on joint practical steps within the WEF framework. We started taking the first steps already this August, and quite recently the government of the Altai Territory decided to provide a land parcel for the large-scale investment project implementation without any competition. Thus, our cooperative work has been started,” said Viktor Tomenko.
Construction of the linear elevator for 200 thousand tons of grain is currently undergo, with a planned turnover of 500 thousand tons per year. Volume of the project investments amounted to 5 billion rubles, moreover 120-130 new workplaces will be provided in the region.
Victor Tomenko noted that the cooperation of agricultural enterprises of the region with the "New Land Grain Corridor" company will be also focused on the measures of state support of agro-industrial complex, that will make possible to obtain optimal results for the purpose of the Altai Territory economic development. The regional government is interested in the stable and long-term work of the investing company in the Altai Territory. Therefore, the possibility of concluding an agreement on investment protection and promotion — in accordance with the current legislation of the Russian Federation — will be considered.
Sergey Pushkin is convinced that the organization of an export corridor to Asian countries will contribute to the grain production development in Siberia.
“We see now that 2–2.5 times more products than today can be produced beyond the Urals. What do we need to provide for producers? Normal export prices and, accordingly, normal export corridors. One of the export corridors - Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk with transshipment capacity up to 8 million tons - we opened with the participation of the President of Russia yesterday: It is open, put into operation, and we are starting shipments to our partners in China. The second block of questions is related to creation of the linear elevator network. We expect to launch 7 new elevators along the Trans-Siberian railway within the next 10 years. Altai Territory is the number 1 among the main agricultural regions. This is the first elevator at advanced stage. We will reach the site and begin construction by the end of the year,” Sergey Pushkin said.
The elevator is planned to be put into operation in the third quarter of 2024. It will meet the highest technological equipment standards. After opening of the elevator in the Altai Territory, similar facilities will be also constructed in other regions of the country, Sergey Pushkin noted.
