The export "window" to China has become wider for Russian farmers.
On March 29th, as part of the implementation of the "New Land Grain Corridor Russia-China" initiative, supported by the heads of the two countries, a long-term contract was signed between Export Food Trade LLC and the Chinese company Sino-European Agricultural Development for the supply of Russian agricultural products to China. According to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev, under this contract, about 1.5 million tons of agricultural products will be supplied from Russia to China in 2018-2019, and more than 50 million tons of agricultural products - by 2028.
Currently, preparations to the departure of the first train to the Chinese city of Qinhuangdao in mid-April are underway. Exported products include soybeans, barley, rapeseeds, flaxseeds, and unrefined sunflower oil. This year, it is planned to send several trains with legumes and oilseeds harvested in 2016, each of them will transport about 2,000 tons of agricultural products.
Implementation of the project "New Land Grain Corridor Russia-China" was started last year in June with the signing of an agreement on creation of the Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk (Zabaikalsk - Manchuria), with planned capacity to transship up to 8 million tons of grain, leguminous and oilseeds, as well as 29 nodal elevators per year.
