In the Trans-Baikal Territory, thanks to new types of state support, it was possible to increase up to three thousand tons the volume of higher reproductions seeds purchasing. The news was announced on 4 of February by the head of the agricultural department Denis Bochkarev within the framework of report for 2021. He is quoted by the press service of the Trans-Baikal government.
"Thanks to the purchase of the high reproduction seeds, the area of varietal crops and the volume of varietal seeds sown were increased," the official explained.
According to him, the share of the area sown with elite seeds in the total acreage in 2021 amounted to 10.5%, which is twice the level of the previous year.
In total, last year the farms of the Trans-Baikal Territory performed spring field work on an area of 200,000 hectares. According to the estimates of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, for 2022, the regional farmers have a seed stock of elite seeds and seeds of the first reproduction of grain crops in the amount of 14 thousand tons.
As REGNUM news agency reported, the construction of the largest land grain terminal in Russia with a transshipment capacity of eight million tons per year is underway in the Trans-Baikal Territory. As Sergei Pushkin, CEO of the New Land Grain Corridor holding, explained, the TPD resident will export grain to China and Central Asian countries using the "contract farming" mechanism and formula pricing.
