Food Export Trade Company and Heilongjiang Province Digital Technology International Transport and Investment Company have inked a contract to sell grain, legumes, and oilseeds to the People's Republic of China.
Transshipment of agricultural products under the contract concluded between the companies will be carried out at the facilities of the specialized full-cycle land grain terminal Zabaikalsk-Manchuria. This contract marked the next phase in the implementation of the New Russia-China Land Grain Corridor program, which was backed by the leaders of the two nations and aimed to promote grain production and logistical infrastructure in the Far Eastern, Ural, and Siberian Federal Districts.
New Russia-China Land Grain Corridor is not only a significant opportunity for the two countries to ensure food security, increase cooperation, and bilateral trade turnover, but it also presents a new challenge to deepen cooperation between Russian and Chinese railways, customs and quarantine structures, search for innovative approaches, automation, and the application of artificial intelligence in order to increase efficient cargo turnover in conditions of capacity shortage. The example of the New Russia-China Land Grain Corridor is unique. For the first time in modern history, the prospect of loading grain on the Russian side has been agreed upon, with the construction of special containers on Chinese railway platforms vacated after unloading at Zabaikalsk station, which had previously returned to China empty.
