On January 17, Russian Senator Bair Zhamsuev visited the world’s first specialized land-based full-cycle grain terminal in Zabaikalsk, held the meeting with Karen Ovsepyan, Director General of the Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk, LLC.
«I have been familiar with this project for almost ten years, since its presentation at the meeting of the Siberian Agreement association. A lot of work has been done from the very idea to the opening of the modern enterprise of a unique type. And there are no analogues in the world yet! Throughput capability — 8 million tons of grain per year. The level of modern technologies in the workflow and the use of the highest standards in traceability, biological security and product quality management issues are incredible. Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk is the key element of the large-scale New Land Grain Corridor project supported by the President of Russia,» said Bair Zhamsuev.
Let’s recall that last summer, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, an agreement between Russian and Chinese companies on strategic cooperation and mutual trade facilitation was signed. On September 6, 2022, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, officially brought Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk in the operation, as the largest grain logistics facility that ensures high standards of biological security and food safety.
«The object is ready for the moment. The grain is in silos. There is „FET“ Production and Export Company in Novosibirsk, a member of the New Land Grain Corridor Group, which was the first entity in the world to implement a contract manufacturing mechanism in the area from the Urals to the Far East, where we conclude ten-year contracts with farmers. Every year we pay 50% of the products, they produce per year in advance, so that they do not run for loans, so that they do not need loans and can work with ease. We provide comprehensive production technology, accompany all agronomy and all enterprises we cooperate in Siberia. From the average 13-14 centners per hectare this year we have reached 35-40 centners per hectare. In February, we expect signing of the agreement between Russian Railways and Chinese Railways to start deliveries,» Karen Ovsepyan emphasized.
When the enterprise will start operating on its full capacity it will provide workplaces for 350 employees, now 180 employees are involved in the production process. Today, the grain terminal manages accredited grain, including soybeans and oats. Further, regular deliveries in accordance with the schedule of the long-term export contract will be started.
