Non-resource non-energy exports (NRE) of Russia in January-February 2022 increased by 38% and amounted to a record $31 billion. This was announced by the Russian Export Center (REC, a part of VEB.RF).
"The main factors behind the growth of exports were not only the products prices growth, but also the increased global demand for goods in the face of their shortage in the global or regional markets," REC analysts say.
During the first two months of 2022, mineral fertilizers, steel, rolled steel, copper, grain, nickel, vegetable oils, platinum group elements, lumber, fish and seafood, polymers and aluminum were the main NRE items. China, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Belarus are among the largest NRE partner countries.
Earlier, the REC announced that the volume of non-resource non-energy exports from Russia in 2021 reached a historical record. Compared to 2020, this figure increased by 37% and amounted to $193 billion.
At the same time, the total volume of Russian exports in 2021 amounted to about $492 billion.
According to the REC Analytical Center, in 2021, chemical industry exports increased by 54%, metallurgy - by 52%, timber industry - by 43%, mechanic engineering - by 31%, food - by 23% Among the main importers of Russian goods were China - $15.6 billion, Kazakhstan - $14.4 billion, Belarus - $11.4 billion, Turkey - $10.9 billion, USA - $7.9 billion.
