The President of the Republic said that since the beginning of the year, the trade turnover has increased by almost 40%, and is expected to reach $4 billion by the end of the year. Uzbekistan expects that its trade turnover with Kazakhstan will reach a record $4 billion by the end of the year, and this figure can be increased in the future up to $10 billion. This was stated by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in an interview published on Saturday with the Kazakhstanskaya Pravda newspaper.
“Since the beginning of this year, trade volume has increased by almost 40%, and is expected to reach $4 billion by the end of the year, a record high level for our trade relations. And this is far from the limit. The potential of the economies allows us to boldly set ourselves the goal of reaching $10 billion in the future," he said.
At the same time, the head of state noted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are natural economic partners that having the potential for a significant expansion of range and volumes of the most demanded products supply.
According to him, more than a thousand enterprises with the Kazakh capital which cover almost all sectors of the economy and social sphere operate nowadays in Uzbekistan. “Large promising projects for the production of chemical products, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure modernization, the creation of agricultural clusters, the localization of car production, and many others are under development,” Mirziyoyev explained.
He also pointed out that the transport and logistics sector is an important area of cooperation. “We are talking about such important projects as the construction of the Uchkuduk-Kyzylorda railway, as well as the launch of a high-speed connection between Turkestan and Tashkent. It should be noted that in recent years, the volume of rail and road freight transportation has increased significantly. Air traffic has been fully restored. Increasing of trade volumes and development of new fields of cooperation will serve the interests of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan," he added.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a state visit to Kazakhstan on December 5-6.
