Growth in the volume of mineral fertilizers application is one of the key tasks for boosting crop yields and their gross yields. Last year, agricultural manufacturers purchased about 4.68 million tons of mineral fertilizers on primary nutrient basis, which was almost 20% higher than in 2020.
According to preliminary data, this made it possible to raise the application level to 55 kg per 1 ha of sown area on average throughout the country (in 2020 - 50 kg per 1 ha). The growth in the application volume contributed to getting a good harvest of the staple crops. Thus, the highest results in the history of the Russian agro-industrial complex have been achieved in terms of the gross harvest of sunflower, soybeans, rapeseed, fruits and berries.
In 2021, despite a significant mineral fertilizers price growth, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture took the necessary measures to promptly provide agricultural manufacturers with this resource. In particular, an operation center was established to manage its supplies, and a detailed purchase plan was developed for the period from December 2021 to May 2022 inclusive. Apart from this, the ministry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service of Russia, has been working on resolving issues arising in this area.
