In 2018, the gross grain yelds in the Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia /Northern China/ amounted to 35.53 million tons. Thus, the Region has maintained grain production at a level of more than 30 million tons for six consecutive years.
According to Wang Guyping, Head of the Agriculture Department of the Inner Mongolian Authority of Agriculture and Cattle Breeding, last year the sown area under cereals in Inner Mongolia amounted to 101 million 850 thousand mu /1 ha = 15 mu/, which is 136 thousand mu more compared to previous year. The average grain yield per mu reached 349 kg with an increase of 29 kg or 8.32 percent.
In 2018, the level of mechanization of land cultivation, sowing and grain harvesting in Inner Mongolia amounted to 83.5 percent, said Wang Guyping.
Inner Mongolia is one of 13 main grain producing regions of China, and also leads the country in the production of cow’s milk, mutton and herbal products.
