The Chinese government have plans to dramatically increase soybean cultivation over the next four years, thereby striving to secure a complete self-sufficiency in terms of this crop in the future: by 2025, the soybean crop should be 25 Mt, or 40% higher than the level achieved in 2021 (16, 4 Mt).
Although, last year the soybean crop harvested in China dropped by 16% due to the expansion of corn and other high-margin crops. Now, the Chinese authorities want to totally change the situation, although the corona virus pandemic continues to have a devastating effect on supply chains against the backdrop of ongoing tensions in foreign economic relations between China and the United States.
At the same time, they want to achieve an increase in acreage for rapeseed and peanuts. As a result, the rapeseed harvest should increase by 29% to 18 million tons by 2025, corn - by 5% to 19 million tons.
