The government of China's northeastern Heilongjiang province has allocated 170 billion yuan (more than $27.7 billion) for construction of railways to the Russian border. Wang Xiankui, First Secretary of the Heilongjiang Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, told reporters about this during the rally named“The Border between Russia and China is the Border of Peace and Cooperation”, according to ITAR-TASS report.
He recalled that the construction of the Harbin-Manchuria-Trans-Siberian railways, as well as the Harbin-Suifenhe-Baikal-Amur and Harbin-Tongjiang railways are currently undergo in an accelerated mode.
Wang Xiankui stressed that the implementation of these projects is an integrated part of the Economic Silk Road concept. “We are working on the development of two routes: Suifenhe - Manchuria - Russia - Europe, and Suifenhe - ports of the Far East of the Russian Federation. Thanks to this, we will be able to transport goods through Russian territory not only from Heilongjiang, but also from other Chinese provinces,” said the First Secretary of the Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.
