On July 4th, Russian Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev took part in negotiations between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding in further strengthening of cooperation in agriculture was signed between agricultural authorities from two countries.
The memorandum provides for the continuation of collaborative work in order to stimulate scientific and technical cooperation in various areas of agriculture.
In addition, the parties expect to create the most favorable conditions for the successful development of trade in agricultural products and investment cooperation, as well as for the exchange and cooperation in veterinary legislation issues.
Let's recall that trade and economic relations between Russia and China continue to develop rapidly. This applies to a large extent to agricultural products and the food industry.
In 2016, compared to 2015, the trade in agricultural and food products between two countries increased by 11% amounting to more than 3.2 billion dollars, and by another 2.5% in the first quarter of 2017.
Russia is interested in significant increase in the supply of high-quality agricultural products to Chinese market.
