According to Denis Bochkarev, Minister of Agriculture of the Trans-Baikal Territory, farmers of Transbaikalia are ready to cultivate 48 thousand hectares of unused agricultural land in 2023.
«14 Transbaikalian farms submitted documents for the project competition, seeking government support for their land clearance operations next year. They presented projects for putting 48 thousand hectares of unused land into cultivation. The implementation of the plan will allow applicants to receive subsidies from the federal budget to the extent of 50% of their costs,» the minister said
It should be noted that this year agricultural enterprises of the region are going to cultivate 26.8 thousand hectares of unused land (15% more than in 2021). To date, 7 thousand hectares have been put into cultivation.
«Agricultural activities in this area are one of our priorities today, because they give a good impetus to the development of crop production in the region,» Denis Bochkarev explained.
Notably, Transbaikalia has a huge reserve of unused land. The total area of unused arable land in the region exceeds 1 million hectares.
