China and Russia expect to reach a record trade turnover of $140 billion by the end of 2021. This was announced by Chinese Ambassador to Moscow Zhang Hanhui in an interview with RIA Novosti on December 29.
As the diplomat empathized, according to customs statistics, from January to December 2021, the volume of trade between China and Russia amounted to $130.4 billion, which is 33.6% more compared to the same period in 2020. This is a record figure, and trade volume between the two countries is expected to exceed $140 billion by the end of the year.
The diplomat noted that at the year end a 14-fold increase was observed: from $8 billion in 2000 to $107.77 billion in 2020. According to the Chinese Ambassador, more important, that cooperation between China and Russia has increased not just quantitatively, but also significantly improved qualitatively due to the trade structure optimization.
Zhang Hanhui also told about the completion of the Roadmap for the "High-Quality Development of Chinese-Russian Trade of Goods and Services". The Roadmap was developed by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, it contains a detailed plan to achieve the goal set by the leaders of the two states - a trade turnover of $ 200 billion.
