Regular grain deliveries are made in accordance with the terms of the contract signed between "the Food Export Trade" and the Chinese company "Mantinfan". Transportation is carried out in specialized grain containers, which are part of the "land grain fleet" of the New Land Grain Corridor group of companies. The first two trains with barley were shipped to China from the Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk in March. The parties intend to gradually increase the amount of supplies: four trains per month initially, then eight, and so forth.
Mr. Che Tenghao, CEO of Mantinfan, noted the interest in a promising partnership: "Our company plans to purchase more than five thousand tons of barley from “Food Export Trade” every month. The first deliveries showcased our companies' efficient and well-organized collaboration."
The contract between “Food Export Trade” and Mantinfan was signed as part of the implementation of the New Russia-China Land Grain Corridor program for the development of grain production and grain logistics infrastructure in the Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts, as well as the supply of goods to the Chinese market.
In addition to offering substantial opportunities for boosting bilateral trade, cooperation, and food security between the two nations, the "New Russia-China Land Grain Corridor" presents new challenges for strengthening ties between Chinese and Russian railways, customs, and quarantine systems, finding innovative approaches, automating processes, and utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to increase cargo turnover in times of capacity shortage. The example of the "New Russia-China Land Grain Corridor" is unique. For the first time in modern history, the possibility of loading grain on the Russian side has been agreed upon, with the installation of special containers on Chinese railway platforms vacated after unloading at Zabaikalsk station, which had previously returned to China empty.
The Grain + target logistics model implies that rail transport travels with cargo in both directions, reducing empty mileage and significantly improving logistics for participants and countries' economies as a whole.
