Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui said that through joint efforts, Russia and China would be able to overcome all the difficulties that have arisen as a result of the ongoing anti-Russian sanctions policy The official Chinese representative made this statement at the meeting of the Russian-Chinese Business Council, held on March 25 at the site of the CCI of the Russian Federation.
As Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui said in his welcome speech, the Chinese side understood the policy of the Russian Federation, being inseparable from the solution of the security problem for all of Europe.
"We believe that the security concerns of the Russian side should be considered. We believe it is impossible to ensure own security violating the security interests of another country [Russia],” said Mr. Hanhui.
However, the Chinese ambassador did not deny the fact that the sanctions imposed on Russia created certain difficulties between the countries.
"But we can overcome all these difficulties through joint efforts. We are always ready to resolve any issues, we are always ready to work together to boost cooperation between our countries. We won't disregard any of your appeals," the Celestial Empire Ambassador added.
In turn, the Chairman of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia, Zhou Liqun, in his speech, emphasized the fact that friendly relations have been existing between our countries in recent years, and the two states invariably provide each other with all-out support.
"The Council of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia, as before, will remain a true friend of the Russian-Chinese Business Council, and will accordingly promote mutually beneficial cooperation and help the processes of social and economic development of our countries,” said Mr. Liqun.
Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Business Council (RCBC) Gennady Timchenko emphasized that our main goal in the current situation is to provide jobs in those companies that we have.
"We'll have no other option. And, surely, we understand that there are really serious difficulties and the government is now developing solutions. It will be impossible for a business to survive having such interest rates. My opinion now is that we all need to get together and trim our sails, be patient for a while," Gennady Timchenko said.
In general, the Chairman of the RCBC expressed absolute confidence that, in partnership with the PRC, Russia would be able to cope with any sanctions.
Evgeny Markin, Executive Director of the RCBC, spoke about the plans for the association for 2022, paying special attention to holding joint events.
"We plan to step up activities directly aimed at developing relations and communications. Today this is the most important aspect, both for the Business Council members and for our Chinese partners," Evgeny Markin added.
We would also like to make a special focus on the fact that in 2021, the trade turnover between Russia and China in 2021 grew by 35.8%, reaching a record high of $146.88 billion. As a result of the summit in Beijing, Russia and China adopted a road map to increase bilateral trade in goods and services to $200 billion by 2024. According to the calculations of the Chinese side, provided in the document, by 2024 the export of goods and services from China to Russia can reach $93 billion, which is 1.9 times higher than in 2018. The RCBC has been operating since 2004, when, as part of the official visit to Beijing by Russian President Vladimir Putin, it was decided to establish such an association with a view to promote and support bilateral economic projects, as well as to promote cooperation between Russian and Chinese business communities. In 2021, 30 new companies joined the Council.
